Brown Spot Removal

Pigmented Lesion-Brown Spot/Age Spot Removal

How does the The GentleMax Pro® Laser Fotofacial work?

During treatment, laser light is absorbed only by the unwanted melanin, raising the temperature to cause shattering of the pigment. Deeper level damaged blood vessels are treated similarly with a quick switch of settings.

Shortly after treatment, the pigment cells (or melanin) have been thoroughly fragmented - without damaging the surrounding tissue. Vascular lesions (spider veins) also coagulate and shrink, many of them disappearing altogether.

In the weeks after treatment, the shattered melanin particles are eliminated by your body's own "clean up" system that absorbs the fragmented pigment. Little or no trace of the initial pigmentation spots or spidery veins remain. The GentleMax Pro® Fotofacial treatment also improves skin texture through collagen stimulation. You get multiple treatment benefits through one system.

How many treatments do you need?

A single treatment completely removes the pigmented blemish. However patients with darker pigmentation will need additional treatment. We ask our clients to return 4 - 6 weeks after the treatment for a follow-up.

How much time is required?

Appointments are normally 15-30 minutes but may be longer for large numbers of brown spots.

Will laser work on my pigmentation?

Our lasers work to remove age spots or pigmentation on any skin tone on the face or body except for very dark skins. Clients with darker skin (Fitzpatrick scale 5 or greater) are not candidates for this procedure because the skin surrounding the brown spot could absorb too much laser energy and produce a more serious burn.

What are the extra benefits of removing age spots with laser?

As well as a treatment for age spots on the face or body, the heat from the laser will stimulate collagen and elastin production in the treated area, giving you additional skin toning and reducing fine wrinkles and age spots.

How do I take care of my skin after my laser treatment?

After removing age spots from the face or body, you must strictly follow your post-treatment care routine and protect your skin from the sun. Using a broad spectrum sunscreen (minimum 30 SPF) every day.
